Etiebet is a traitor and a poor manager - Akpabio
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Godswill Akpabio, has described former Petroleum Minister, Chief Don Etiebet, as a traitor.
Akpabio stated that Etiebet had not won any election in his life, adding that the highest position Etiebet had ever attained was that of becoming, by appointment, a one-term petroleum resources minister.
Speaking during the presentation of certificates of return to elected candidates in the 2015 general elections in Uyo on Thursday night, Akpabio stated that Etiebet had never been steadfast in his political career.
He alleged that the former petroleum minister intentionally ran All Nigerian Peoples Party aground with the hope of getting the governorship ticket of Akwa Ibom from former Nigerian President, General Olusegun Obasanjo.
According to Akpabio, when Etiebet founded National Centre Party of Nigeria, he could not sustain it as he abandoned the party and all his supporters across Nigeria.
The governor added, “Etiebet has never won any election in his life. He only had an appointment for one time as Minister of Petroleum Resources. He has never been steady in any political party.
“He formed a political party called National Centre Party of Nigeria, which he abandoned with the followers and declared for United Nigeria Congress Party. He abandoned all his supporters across Nigeria, and then collected something and declared for another political party in Abuja.
“That was what he did, the same thing in 1999. And by the year 2000, when they formed government, it was not up to one year, he abandoned them here, because he thought the then governor did not give him what he wanted.
“After accusing the governor, abusing the governor, he ran into All Nigeria Peoples Party. He met ANPP with nine governors. They made a mistake by making him national chairman. By the time he left the ANPP, they only had one governor in Borno State. That is how fantastic a manager he is. He managed ANPP from nine governors to one.
“Then in 2006, he ran down here and said Obasanjo wanted to reward him for killing the ANPP, that President Obasanjo said he should come and be governor of Akwa Ibom State - that it was the reward for killing the ANPP.
“And because God does not like a traitor, even Judas did not live to eat the fruit of his labour, after he betrayed Jesus. That was when you all shouted, ‘Let God’s will be done.’ That was how I emerged.”
